The Ethiopian Tourist Trading Enterprise (ETTE), established in 1964, is a government-owned enterprise dedicated to promoting Ethiopia’s rich cultural heritage and supporting the nation’s tourism sector. With over six decades of experience, ETTE operates a network of duty-free and duty-paid retail outlets, offering a diverse range of products including handicrafts, souvenirs, electronics, and luxury goods. The enterprise also engages in the production of traditional Ethiopian art and crafts, aiming to showcase the country’s unique cultural identity to both domestic and international customers. Through its commitment to quality service and cultural promotion, ETTE plays a significant role in enhancing Ethiopia’s image and contributing to its economic development.

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, concession agreements, and supplier/distribution agreements across all business lines. • Provide legal opinions on customs, duty-free regulations, trade licensing, and import/export matters. • Represent the Enterprise in litigation, arbitration, and negotiations with external parties. • Handle and defend the Enterprise against labour disputes and lawsuits filed by employees, including grievances escalated to court or the labour relations board. • Advice management on legal risks associated with new business initiatives, outlet openings, and partnerships. • Ensure compliance with commercial, tax, labour, and industry-specific (customs/duty-free) regulations. • Handle intellectual property matters related to Handicraft/Art craft products, including trademarks and designs. • Review and update company policies, bylaws, and standard legal templates. • Supervise, mentor, and quality-check the work of the Corporate Lawyer and other junior legal staff etc

Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably within trading, retail, or duty-free/travel-retail industries

Educational Requirements: Bachelor of Laws required; Master of Laws is an advantage. License: Licensed to practice law in Ethiopia; good standing with the relevant legal Association
